About Heidi

Canadian mezzo-soprano Heidi Jost has a warm and flexible voice, capable of great expression and musicality. She sings with an intense commitment to the text and shines in the baroque and contemporary repertories. She is a core member of the Dei Gratia Baroque Ensemble, performing early music on stages across Greater London. She also performs regularly with Gloriana Womens Choir as a soloist and chorister.

On the operatic stage, Miss Jost has appeared as 2nd Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with KOFMA, Sister Helen in Dead Man Walking with Opera NUOVA, Giulio Cesare with Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Rosina with Pellegrini Opera, Cherubino with Vancouver Summer Opera Studio, and 3e Fille du Rhin in the World Premiere of Gabriel Thibaudeau’s Le Quatrième Enfant-Lune with Opera V Mana in Montreal. Concert roles include Sesto and Dorabella with OperOttawa.

On the concert stage, Heidi has performed the Rachmaninov Vespers Op. 37 mezzo solo with the Cantata Singers and the New London Singers, Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio with the Thirteen Strings, and has toured Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with soprano Erinne-Colleen Laurin and the Quatuor Despax in Quebec. A winner of The North York Concert Orchestra Mozart Vocal Competition, Heidi was the alto soloist for Handel’s Messiah, Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass with the Oakville Choral Society. She has also performed the title role in Handel’s Solomon with the Victoria Conservatory of Music Summer Oratorio Programme.

Heidi holds a Master of Music degree in voice performance from the University of Ottawa where she studied with Ingemar Korjus, and a Baccalaureate of Music in flute performance with NACO principal flautist Robert Cram. She continues voice studies with Deborah Miles-Johnson and Quentin Hayes. Heidi is based in North London and enjoys freelancing as a singer and flautist. She is the Music, French and Singing Teacher at St. Margaret’s School Hampstead.
